Green Power EMC’s solar portfolio to grow by 52 MW in Georgia
May 28 – US power supplier Green Power EMC said Wednesday it will buy for 30 years the full output and environmental attributes from a 52-MW solar farm, which is to be built in southeast Georgia by Silicon Ranch Corp.
This is the second solar partnership between the two companies, the first being a 20-MW photovoltaic (PV) project again in Jeff Davis County. These two development will boost Green Power EMC’s renewables capacity to 104 MW.
Silicon Ranch will own and operate the 51-MW solar array, which is to enter the construction phase in late 2015. It is planned to be up and ready to run in the autumn of next year. Using trackers to follow the sun, the solar farm is expected to produce over 134 million kWh, or as much as 8,500 local households consume.
Green Power EMC supplies renewable energy for 38 Georgia Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs).
