to-the-point NTT breaks ground on 11.66-MW PV plant in Fukushima

June 23 – Japanese firm NTT Facilities Inc said today it started the construction of a 11.66-MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Okuma city, Fukushima prefecture, on June 13.

NTT Facilities, a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (TYO:9432), said the solar park is scheduled to start selling power on July 1, 2017. The PV plant is a partnership with local Kitashiba Eletric Co Ltd.

The Okuma Energy Mega Solar Power Plant, as it is named, has an estimated energy production of about 12,700 MWh per year, enough to meet the demand of 3,500 local households.

Earlier this month, the company also broke ground on a 1-MW PV power plant in Higashihiroshima city, Hiroshima prefecture.
