Other top news include a plan by Norway’s Scatec to build 300 MW of solar parks in Pakistan and two more offshore wind turbine contracts for Siemens.

ENEL GREEN, SUNEDISON GROW MORE

Enel Green Power SpA (BIT:EGPW) said Thursday it has struck a power purchase agreement (PPA) worth up to USD 3.5 billion (EUR 3.14bn) tied to solar, wind and geothermal projects in Chile. The Italian renewables company is about to install its first geothermal power plant in the country and has just initiated construction of the 160-MW Finis Terrae solar plant in Antofagasta and the 24-MW Los Buenos Aires wind farm in Los Angeles.

SOLAR PLANS FOR PAKISTAN AND OMAN

Norway’s Scatec Solar ASA (OSL:SSO) said on Tuesday it has signed a pact with Nizam Energy to deploy 300 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity in Pakistan. The projects, representing an investment of some USD 600 million, will be built in two main stages.

The construction of a very different solar facility is to start in Oman this year, as announced on Wednesday. The Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has selected US firm GlassPoint Solar Inc’s technology for a 1,021-MW project. The Miraah park will use large, curved mirrors to focus sunlight on a boiler tube containing water to produce steam for enhanced oil recovery (EOR).
