April 8 – Taiwanese wafer manufacturer Green Energy Technology Inc (TPE:3519), or GET, saw its revenues for the first quarter of 2015 increase by 6.5% on the year to TWD 4.03 billion (USD m/EUR m).
As for March alone, the company’s sales amounted to TWD 1.25 billion, which is 8.2% higher than in the same period of 2014. On a month-to-month basis, sales improved slightly by 0.6%, thanks to increased product shipments.
Looking forward, the company said that it expects both prices and demand for photovoltaic (PV) equipment to stabilise and rise during the second half of the year, taking into account the projections for solar capacity additions globally. Market research company IHS (NYSE:IHS), for instance, forecasts that they will reach 53 GW to 57 GW, up by 16%-25% over 2014 figures.
GET operates as the solar arm of Taiwanese electrical and electronic products maker Tatung Group. The firm intends to fully utilise its 2-GW own manufacturing capacity and the additional 700 MW it has through partnerships, aiming to “increase high-end shares in global markets”.
