NextEra Energy Resources’ Q2 net profit rises to USD 273m

August 3 – US renewable energy company NextEra Energy Resources LLC on Monday reported a net attributable profit of USD 273 million (EUR 248.9m) for the second quarter of 2015, a jump from USD 81 million a year earlier.

On an adjusted basis, net profit at the clean energy unit of US power producer NextEra Energy Inc (NYSE:NEE) increased to USD 251 million, or USD 0.57 per share, from USD 213 million, or USD 0.48 per share in the second quarter of 2014. Growth was mainly driven by wind and solar investments put into operation since the 2014 second quarter.

During the quarter, NextEra Energy Resources signed power purchase agreements (PPA) for 400 MW of new wind and 155 MW of new solar projects. It currently has a backlog of about 3,100 MW of contracted renewables projects and expects to bring online a total of 4,800 MW to 5,200 MW of renewables under its 2015-2018 development programme.
