December 2 – The 23.1-MWp Falcon Ma’an solar park in Jordan has been hooked to the grid, as announced Thursday by Enerray SpA, which holds 24% in the project.
The Italian engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor worked on the project together with Saudi Arabian firm Desert Technologies, which holds 25%. Local partner Catalyst Private Equity holds 50%, while the remaining 1% are left for Seci Energia.
The solar park is powered by JinkoSolar (NYSE:JKS) modules and uses the Medium Voltage Power Station by SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92). It is expected to generate 147 million kWh per year, offsetting more than 25,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Financing for the project came under the Seven Sisters renewable programme by the World Bank’s International Finance Corp (IFC) and several other lenders — Dutch development bank FMO, an OPEC fund, Finnfund, Europe Arab Bank and Arab Bank.
