Denmark confirms record-low bid in 20-MW solar auction

December 28 – The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) today confirmed that local firm Pure & Better Energy has won its 20-MW cross-border solar photovoltaic (PV) tender with an impressive bid of DKK 128.9 (USD 18.1/EUR 17.3) per MWh.

The company will get the amount as a surcharge above the market price for electricity. That form of subsidy is locked for 20 years.

The solar photovoltaic (PV) parks of 21.6 MW in total will be built in two years.

Pure & Better Energy, a joint venture between Pure Energy Development and Better Energy, said earlier this month that it was able to bid so low because of well-designed financing and optimisation on the technical side.

A portion of the capacity in the tender was opened to bidders from Germany, in line with EU efforts to promote cooperation in the renewable energy sector. In November, developer European Energy won a 50-MW cross-border auction in Germany with five projects in Denmark.
