Hungary’s Ecosolifer plans 100-MW PV panel factory in Brazil
November 27 – Hungarian firm Ecosolifer plans to establish in Santa Catarina state a solar panel assembly factory with a capacity of 100 MW per year.
The project was presented on Thursday to the local government. According to the company, the mentioned capacity refers only to the plant’s first phase that will require investments of up to EUR 10 million (USD 9.4m).
The new unit will act as a complement to the manufacturer’s base in Hungary, assembling the panels with imported photovoltaic (PV) cells from the Hungarian site, said Ecosolifer CEO Akos Haidegger. The imported cells are based on the heterojunction technology, allowing solar panels to achieve energy efficiency of between 22% and 24%, notes the company in the press release.
Ecosolifer guaranteed this technology exclusivity in Brazil and intends to transfer 100% of the new technology to the country by 2020, said Ecosolifer Latin America director, Bruno Zacharias.
