ET Solar connects 6.6-MWp UK solar farm

June 8 – A unit of Chinese solar products maker ET Solar Energy Corp has connected to the grid a 6.6-MWp ground-mounted solar farm in the UK, built for renewables investor Belltown Power.

The grid connection was completed by Munich-based ET Solutions AG, which provides turnkey  photovoltaic (PV) systems, according to an announcement on Monday. ET Solar said the contract expanded its presence in the UK large-scale solar market.

The Sawmills solar farm is located near Dawlish, Devon in southwestern England. It was completed under the UK’s Renewable Obligation support mechanism. The facility is expected to generate enough power to meet the needs of about 2,000 households and offset almost 3,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) per year.

Set up in 2013, UK firm Belltown Power currently has 83 MW of renewable energy projects in operation and construction. It aims to deploy GBP 250 million (USD 382m/EUR 341m) into the construction of 150 MW of UK renewable energy assets by 2017.
