EDF Renewable Energy offloads 24.3 MWp solar farm in California

August 4 – US independent power producer EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE) today said it closed the sale of its 24.3 MWp Catalina Solar 2 project to energy group Dominion Resources Inc (NYSE:D).

The asset sale was announced in September 2014 and officially closed on June 30, 2015 when the installation of the project was complete. EDF RE continued to manage the project through the commissioning process to place the project in service on July 22, 2015.

The facility comprises 83,000 pieces of custom specific CS6X-P solar modules in a 7 x 12 cell matrix with dual UL and IEC 1000V certification from Canadian Solar (NASDAQ: CSIQ).

The electricity generated by Catalina Solar 2 will be provided to Southern California Edison under a 20-year power purchase contract.

EDF Renewable Energy, which is a unit of French green energy firm EDF Energies Nouvelles (EN), has developed about 6 GW of renewable energy capacity, it noted. Catalina Solar 2 represents EDF RE’s 15th renewable energy project developed in California.
