Dominion buys rights to 60-MW solar project in N Carolina
October 19 – US energy producer and distributor Dominion (NYSE:D) said today it has purchased the development rights for the 60-MW Summit Farms solar project in North Carolina from developer SunEnergy LLC.
A unit of Dominion Energy Inc has acquired the project for an undisclosed sum. The vendor will build the plant in Currituck County as its construction contractor.
The project has already secured 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston Medical Center and Post Office Square Redevelopment Corporation. It is expected to be completed in December 2016.
Dominion is also the owner of the 20-MW Morgans Corner Solar plant in North Carolina. In addition, it has announced several projects in Virginia, including an 80-MW scheme and five developments of between 17 MW and 20 MW.
