Chile’s Central Solar Desierto I seeks access to private power line
May 15, 2015 16:46 CEST
May 15 – Chilean firm Central Solar Desierto I SpA has requested access for its 40-MW Chaka photovoltaic (PV) project to a transmission line of Minera Franke.
On Thursday, Chile’s expert panel for the power sector agreed to consider the issue and set a public hearing for May 28, after that the parties could present comments by June 2.
Central Solar Desierto I claimed an unjustified refusal by Minera Franke to reach an agreement for connection of the solar park with the 110-kV Diego de Almagro-Franke line. The line stretches 67.5 km (42 miles) between a plant of Minera Franke and the Diego de Almagro substation, owned by grid operator Transelec.
The PV park will be installed in Diego de Almagro, Atacama region. The original project envisaged 20 MW, consisting of 91,200 modules with an output of 60 GWh a year for the grid.
