Brazil’s solar capacity in Aug at 23 MW wind at 9330 MW
October 6 – Brazil’s installed solar power capacity in August 2016 doubled when compared to last year, reaching 23 MW, and wind grew to 9,327 MW, according to a governmental bulletin published this week.
The latest issue of the Monthly Monitoring Electric System Bulletin also shows growth in the other renewable sources. More details on the year-on-year increase in the table below.
The bulletin points out that the country’s total installed power generation capacity amounted to 147,727 MW at August-end. Brazil added 9,058 MW to its power mix in one year. Hydropower was at the top with 5,219 MW of new generation, followed by wind with 2,790 MW. Thermal and solar power come next with 1,037 MW and 12 MW, respectively.
