Acciona Windpower meets local components rule in Brazil

July 27 – Spanish company Acciona SA (BME:ANA) said today its subsidiary Acciona Windpower has fulfilled the local component requirements set by the Brazilian Development Bank, or BNDES.

This certification by BNDES allows Acciona to offer its customers better access to the bank financing terms for their wind energy developments, said Acciona Windpower Brazil director Christiano Forman.

In December 2012, BNDES presented new accreditation rules to boost the national sourcing of components for wind turbines, making it mandatory for companies that seek financing from the bank to comply with local content requirements.

Currently, the company has a nacelle assembly plant which assembles hubs in the state of Bahia as well as a concrete tower production facility in Rio Grande do Norte state. Acciona Windpower also purchases blades and other wind turbine components in the country.
