UK’s renewable power share at 15% in 2013 – new stats
Feb 20, 2015 – Renewable power generation in the UK has been rising steadily since 1980 and in 2013 the country reached 15% renewables share in total electricity generation, the Office for National Statistics said.
Wind and solar power accounted for nearly 60% of the 2013 generation. The table below shows renewable and non-renewable power generation in Britain over the last several years, excluding net electricity supply from other fuels, imports and pumped storage.
The UK aims to reach a renewables share of 15% in total energy consumption by 2020, which also includes energy demand for transport and heating, under EU’s climate goals.
