December 21 – UK green energy company Good Energy Group Plc (LON:GOOD) has agreed to sell its 5-MW Oaklands solar park to Eneco UK Ltd, with completion of deal expected around January 3.
The company said today it will sell the asset for GBP 5.78 million (USD 7.1m/EUR 6.9m) in cash. The agreement includes an option for Good Energy to buy power from the solar farm. The seller will keep providing asset management services.
The sale is expected to bring net profits of between GBP 340,000 and GBP 390,000, to be recognised in 2017. The proceeds will be used to finance the construction of additional photovoltaic (PV) capacity before the March 2017 deadline for renewable obligation (RO) support, Good Energy said.
This first project with Eneco is in line with the UK company’s strategy of selling sites and reinvesting to develop renewable assets.
