Turkey to hold 1-GW solar tender in December – report
October 21 – Turkey’s tender for a 1-GW solar farm in Konya will be held in December, energy minister Berat Albayrak said in a press conference on Thursday.
The winner in the tender will have to meet domestic content requirements, such as the hiring of 80% local engineers and the mandatory use of equipment produced in Turkey. Albayrak was cited by local media as saying that there will be a significant boost to the solar supply chain in the country.
The solar park in Konya’s Karapinar district will get a 15-year guarantee of purchase. It is expected to produce 1.7 TWh annually. US and Chinese companies are interested in the project, the minister has mentioned.
Albayrak also announced that there will be a wind energy tender in the first quarter of 2017.
