September 15 – Japanese renewable energy firm SB Energy Corp said today it will begin commercial operation of its 1.4-MW solar power plant in the city of Ebino, Miyazaki Prefecture this Friday.
The Japanese company, the clean energy arm of SoftBank Corp (TYO:9984), estimates that the solar photovoltaic (PV) farm will produce enough power to meet the annual demand of some 448 local homes or 1.6 million kWh per year.
The Miyazaki Ebino Solar Park, as it is named, spreads on an area of 1.7 ha (4 acres).
Currently, Japan aims to connect 28 GW of solar capacity to the national grid in the next five years.
