November 20 – Argentina’s wind and solar photovoltaic plants covered 0.51% of the local power market last month, according to the monthly report of Fundacion para el Desarrollo Electrico (Fundelec).
The country consumed 10,718 GWh, up 0.3% on the year, with thermal and hydroelectric plants representing 56.48% and 36.48% of the mix, respectively, followed by nuclear power plants with 2.27%.
The wind and solar parks accounted for 0.48% in October 2014 and only 0.2% in full 2014.
Argentina has recently reformed its renewable energy law to stimulate investments through a new fund and tax incentives with a view to achieving an 8% renewables share in 2017.
