November 22 – SunPower Corp (NASDAQ:SPWR) will install 6.3 MW of its Helix solar systems at 34 school sites in California, the US solar company said on Monday.
The schools are part of the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area.
The project involves carports, shade structures and rooftop systems that will be built over the course of next year. The first phase is to start operations in January.
The school district will buy the power produced under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with SunPower. The company estimates that the project will deliver USD 53 million (EUR 50m) in electricity savings to WCCUSD over the next 25 years.
