to-the-point Peru’s wind solar plants generate 1.6% in July

September 2 – Peru’s wind and solar farms generated 63 GWh or 1.56% of total output in July 2015, according to the energy ministry’s monthly report published on Tuesday.

Wind energy reached 46 GWh versus 7 GWh a year earlier when the first local wind farms were ramping up operations, while solar generation rose 21.4% to 17 GWh.

Additionally, the wind farms supplied 1.9% of the highest power demand within the month which reached 5,883 MW on July 14.

Peru’s total power output grew 5.7% year-on-year to 4,015 GWh amid an 8.2% increase in hydropower generation, to 1,754 GWh, while thermal output went up 1.9% to 2,197 GWh.
