to-the-point Peru’s wind solar output rises 68.6% y/y in July
September 2 – Peru’s Ministry of Energy announced on Wednesday that in July the country’s wind and solar energy output surged by 68.6% year-on-year to 108 GWh.
Thermal plants increased their production by 12.6% to 2,463 GWh during that month. Hydropower plants (HPP) generation, on the other hand, decreased by 3.3% to 1,681 GWh. This was the third consecutive month hydropower output is declining.
Peru’s total power generation for July was at 4,252 GWh, a 6.6% increase from the previous year.
During the first seven months of 2016, the country produced 30,018 GWh, an 8.3% increase when compared with the same period last year.
