June 26 – Japanese renewable energy firm SB Energy Corp announced on Friday it will install a 2.7-MW photovoltaic (PV) power array in the city of Imabari, Ehime Prefecture.
The solar system is scheduled to commence commercial operations by March 2016. The Japanese firm estimates that the solar project will be able to produce enough electricity to meet the annual demands of about 888 homes.
This solar array is another step closer to Japan’s goal of adding 28 GW of solar capacity to its national system by 2020 in an effort to promote the use of renewable energy sources in the country.
