January 18 – Solar cell and module maker China Sunergy Co Ltd (NASDAQ:CSUN) on Monday said it has supplied 2.5 MW of solar modules to UK infrastructure and support services company Stobart Group Ltd (LON:STOB).
The modules were used for the construction of a solar farm at Stobart-owned London Southend Airport. Consisting of more than 9,500 solar panels on 3.2 hectares (7.9 acres) of unused grassland, the solar installation is currently the largest at a UK airport, according to the announcement.
The system will meet around 20% of the airport’s annual electricity needs.
