October 9 – Chile’s wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) parks in the central power system SIC produced 255 GWh last month, equal to 6.05% of the system’s output, compared to 167 GWh in the same month last year, according to system operator CDEC-SIC.
Wind power output rose nearly 24% year-on-year to 161 GWh, representing 3.83% of SIC’s overall monthly output. The installed wind capacity remained at 814.1 MW during the month, while solar power increased by 3 MW to 423.7 MW as a result of the Solar Luna project. Total installed capacity in the system reached 15,779 MW.
Gross power output grew 0.61% year-on-year to a total 4,211 GWh, 54.09% of which came from hydroelectric plants and 39.86% from thermal generation.
