September 16 – Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy approved four solar energy plants, with a combined capacity of 115.34 MW, to join the national Incentive Regime for Infrastructure Development (REIDI).
The total cost of the projects, all located in Bahia state, is estimated at roughly BRL 662.40 million (USD 200.20m/EUR 179.15m). Named UFV Juazeiro Solar I, II, III and IV, the plants have a capacity of 28.83 MW each and are controlled by local special purpose entities (SPE).
The photovoltaic (PV) schemes also have the same construction schedule, starting on August 1, 2017, with completion expected by August 1, 2018.
REIDI, launched in 2007, grants tax incentives to companies investing in infrastructure projects within the transport, energy, sanitation and irrigation sectors.
