SunPower dedicates 20-MW solar plant in Arizona

December 22 – SunPower Corp (NASDAQ:SPWR) has finalised a 20-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power facility in Arizona’s Cochise County, it was announced on Wednesday.

The particular plant will be selling its output to Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA). SSVEC will also receive and retain the renewable energy credits (RECs) associated with the power station.

The facility is equipped with SunPower’s Oasis Power Plant system, a fully integrated, modular solar power block solution for utility-scale solar projects. The plant includes half a megawatt of the newest generation of the platform.

When announcing the deal to build the solar park in September 2015, SunPower said that its yieldco joint venture with First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR), namely 8point3 Energy Partners LP (NASDAQ:CAFD), may buy the asset upon completion. SSVEC has the option to acquire it at a later date.
