SunEdison buys UK solar sales partner Mark Group
July 21 – US renewables developer SunEdison Inc (NYSE:SUNE) has taken over Leicester-based solar installation partner Mark Group to set up a direct sales channel in the UK’s residential and commercial space.
Commenting on the deal, Vikas Desai, SunEdison senior vice president of residential and small commercial, said that “[…] this acquisition will enable SunEdison to offer additional energy solutions, products, and services directly to customers”.
Mark Group is a provider of energy efficient solar systems, heating systems and insulation products that has about two million local customers. It has built a 6-MW solar array, which is considered to be the largest installation on a single rooftop in the UK.
SunEdison did not mention how much it paid for the acquired business. Yesterday, the US company announced it has agreed to buy Vivint Solar (NYSE:VSLR) in a USD-2.2-billion (EUR 2bn) deal.
