SolarWorld to deliver 17.5 MW of PV panels for Nevada project
April 12 – SolarWorld Americas Inc announced today it will supply 17.5 MW of its 72-cell crystalline silicon solar panels for a project developed by the Valley Electric Association (VEA) in Nevada near the border with California.
The US unit of Germany’s SolarWorld (ETR:SWVK) will manufacture 51,562 solar modules of 340 W for this project at its facility in Hillsboro, Oregon. The inverters, racking systems and other materials for the scheme will also be made in the US.
The renewables arm of Bombard Electric LLC is building the particular solar park in the Mojave Desert town of Pahrump, west of Las Vegas. The plant is expected to be completed by the summer.
SolarWorld said that VEA and Bombard have worked with the US Fish and Wildlife Service to protect Mojave Desert tortoises inhabiting the 80-acre project site.
