October 9 – UK solar company Solarcentury wants to develop 100 MW to 150 MW as own projects in Chile between 2015 and 2017, Giulio Cassai, international developer at the company, has told Chilean daily La Tercera.
The company plans to purchase licences from local developers and simultaneously generate new projects with local players familiar with the market and the relationships with communities. Including projects for third parties, Solarcentury expects to install 400 MW to 500 MW in the country, which implies investments of USD 650 million (EUR 572.6m).
Construction of the first projects will start before April 2016, as there are several contracts at the final phase of negotiations.
Solarcentury is also preparing to compete for power supply contracts at the state’s energy auction next year.
