Solar Sisters Unite! SEI Offers Women’s Only PV101 Online – August

According to the 2013 National Solar Jobs Census the future is bright for the solar industry indeed:

“With the expected addition of over 22,200 new solar workers over the next year, employment in the solar industry is expected to grow by 15.6% during a period in which employment in the overall economy is expected to grow by only 1.4%.”
 
This is fantastic news, but we say it is high time for more women to join this solar tidal-wave. For many years Solar Energy International (SEI) taught women-only courses to draw more women into the renewable energy industry, and trained over 600 women during that time.

However it has become apparent, that even with all the incredible growth this industry has sustained over recent years, women are still very much under-represented in the solar industry. It is estimated that currently only 1 out of every 5 solar workers is female.

To address this issue, SEI is once again actively working on solutions to bring more women into the PV industry. Beginning with our first women’s-only online PV101 course this August, SEI is creating a uniquely supportive learning atmosphere with female-only instructors and participants.   Registration Info >>

This course is intended for women who want to start building their solar knowledge foundation, and qualify themselves to get those awaiting solar jobs. Additionally our online courses are especially helpful for women wanting to expand their horizons, but cannot easily travel to an onsite workshop or be away from existing jobs or family.

The self-paced, 6-week course curriculum is the same as our co-ed PV101, and thus specifically focused on the information needed to enter this rapidly growing world of solar, but the flexible nature allows students to complete the coursework around their personal schedule.  Registration Info >>
