it works against pesky pooping pigeons! (so far),
I was getting desperate to keep the pigeons from pooping on my pool patio! I tried hanging foil tinselly stuff – no change. I tried the big orange inflatable owl eyes thing, but it kept deflating. I had tried the plastic ‘realistic’ owl, but the pigeons promptly pooped on HIM, laughing at me the whole time (they literally did it in FRONT of me as I watched thru the window).
In desperation, I did a LOT of Googling and found this. It’s not cheap, but like I said, I had to do SOMETHING. What I like about it is that it needs no batteries. You just set it down (in the area nuisance birds most like to hang out), and make sure it gets some sun. Since I’m in Phoenix, THAT is not a problem. As soon as the sun hits it, it turns round & round, it’s tinsely sparkly attachments flapping around. For some reason that swooping movement scares them. And it keeps going until it’s pretty dark outside. It does help to move it to different spots every so often.
Now, I’m not sure if it was only partially this solar bird repeller, because I ALSO threw a big blow-up plastic snake in my pool for good measure (which scared the pool guy for a moment!), but the minute I put them both out, the pigeons flew away, and after several months, still steer WELL clear of my patio. PS – it does NOT seem to scare the hummingbirds on my patio, and that’s a GOOD thing.

like it,
works well, easy to assemble. Better be sunny where you live, I don’t think battery holds that much if its cloudy/raining in your area.
