Romax finds a better way to keep an eye on your turbine fleet
InSight monitoring software on a turbine fleet can maximize reliability while minimizing O&M costs, says Romax Technologies. The company has announced the availability of its latest release of the Insight Health Management Suite of products and services for the wind industry.
The InSight Solution, for use on onshore and offshore wind farms, lets wind farm owners and operators combine data from wind turbine CMS and SCADA systems on a single intuitive platform. The hardware independent tool, InSight, lets users collate and easily visualize the health of individual and collective wind turbines that in turn, reduces operating costs, improves maintenance, and investment planning and maximizes the increase in revenue and energy generation.
The offshore wind market is progressing in turbine size, depth, and scale. Combine that with wind farms coming out of their end-of-warranty periods, and there is a critical need for a being able to plan and predict the life cycle of drivetrain components.
For instance, reports show that over 32% of wind farm failures are due to gearbox failure, followed by 23% in generator failures. Having foresight of potential issues means replacements can be properly planned and executed to ensure they are as cost effective as possible. Already InSight products are monitoring and analyzing over 1.6 GW of assets.
The software can provide detailed, 24/7 diagnosis into the health of a wind turbine through Romax monitoring services. It provides reporting across U.S., EU, and Asia. Such capability can save of hundreds of thousands of dollars when considering factors such as the delivery, downtime, and replacements.
With a combination of InSight and expert knowledge, Romax can work with operators, independently, to analyze results, make recommendations, and undertake solutions which result in limited downtime. The software was first launched at EWEA 2012.
