November 24 – UK-based Renewable Energy Systems Ltd (RES) is progressing with the construction of the 102-MW Lamesa solar power plant in the US state of Texas.
RES is building the solar park and will operate and maintain it following completion. It signed a joint development agreement with the originating developer, BNB Renewable Energy Holdings, in mid-2015. Earlier this year the company sold the project to Southern Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE:SO).
After work started in earnest in August, the steel poles for the solar panels have been quickly emerging at the site between Lamesa and Los Ybanez, Lamesa Press-Reporter said recently.
RES said in July that commercial operation is expected by the middle of 2017. The facility will consist of about 410,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels, which together will be able to produce enough electricity to power around 26,000 US households.
