REG contracts Juwi for 2.6-MWp UK solar project
July 7 – Renewable Energy Generation Ltd (LON:WIND), or REG, has contracted the UK unit of German renewable projects developer Juwi AG to build its 2.6-MWp solar project in Cornwall, southwestern England.
The UK company said Tuesday it has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Juwi Renewable Energies Ltd, which will supply, install and commission the ground-mounted system at Mendennick. Construction at the project has already started and completion is due by the end of 2015. The installation will operate under the small-scale feed-in-tariff (FiT) regime. Juwi was also awarded a five-year operations and maintenance contract.
REG chief executive Andrew Whalley said that the project was part of a 132.4-MW pipeline of consented wind, biopower and solar projects which would increase the company’s capacity to 243.6 MW. REG has a target of boosting its operational capacity to 300 MW within three years from 111 MW now.
