PV parks in Belgium near 67% load at noon on Sunday

April 6 – Solar power generation in Belgium on Sunday reached a peak of 1,946.9 MW at 1230 local time, which corresponded to a load factor of 66.8%.
Peak generation was in line with national transmission system operator (TSO) Elia’s forecast. The latter is monitoring 2,915.88 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity.
For tomorrow, April 7, Elia expects a peak of 1952.89 MW at 1315.
Belgium’s wind power plants, meanwhile, achieved a peak of just 470.2 MW at 0000 local time on Sunday. This was by 30.13% more than Elia expected. The TSO is monitoring 1,834.71 MW of wind power generation capacity.
Belgium aims to reach a 13% renewable energy share by 2020. According to recently released data by the EU’s statistics office Eurostat, renewables accounted for 7.9% of the country’s gross final consumption of energy in 2013.
