PowerFilm Peel and Stick 1.5 Watt Solar Panel

  • WeatherProof Solar
  • 1.54 watts of peak solar power; 15.4 volts at 100mA
  • lightweight and flexible like all PowerFilm solar panels
  • 6.9 x 10.6 inches
  • weighs just 2 ounces

The PowerFilm Peel-n-Stick 1.5 watt solar panel is ideal for permanent outdoor solar charging applications that are directly exposed to the elements. The panel provides and operating voltage of 15.4 volts at 100mA making it ideal for charging 12 volt battery systems.

A diode, such as 1N5817, is recommended to prevent the solar module from draining the battery when the solar panel is in the dark. No diode is needed for a battery free electrical device. The recommended connector wire size is 24 gauge. Before use connect the solar module to a digital multimeter for polarity identification.

DO NOT CONNECT A CHARGED BATTERY BACKWARDS OR REVERSE POLARITY TO THE SOLAR MODULE, THIS WILL DESTROY THE MODULE AND MAY CAUSE THE BATTERY TO EXPLODE RESULTING IN BODILY INJURY OR DEATH.

This review is from: PowerFilm Peel and Stick 1.5 Watt Solar Panel (Electronics)

My situation was a need to keep my power tool charged, I modified a charger base with a blocking diode, and stuck the panel directly onto the toolbox/truckbox with wires underneath an edge (insulated with shrink) and wires at the hinge so they would be protected. A little “hidden” duct tape secured the run inside the box, and the charger base is now solar. I removed the burned up electronics inside the charger and wired the panel thru a blocking diode into proper polarity. There is no need for a charge controller since the wattage is low it will not hurt the batteries. (14.4v pack)
Now when the box is left on jobsite without electricity- it will stay fresh and ready to go!
You can do the same for gate controllers, custom cases/packs etc. This is actually much more rugged than I expected, and I only paid $20 for it.
May get another one to put on my lawn tractor just to keep the battery freshly topped off. Why not!
