February 2 – Pattern Energy Group’s 122-MW Conejo Solar photovoltaic (PV) farm in Chile will start operations this summer, being the Chilean winter, the Ministry of National Assets said.
The project, considered one of the biggest in Latin America, represents an investment of USD 205 million (EUR 187.77m) and spreads over a 700-ha (1,729 acres) area, provided by the ministry. To date, the Chilean government has provided 50,000 ha of land for renewable energy projects in the country, which represents some 8,435 MW of capacity and a total investment of USD 16.87 billion.
Once operational, the Conejo Solar plant will produce enough power to meet the annual consumption of about 200,000 households.
The Chilean portfolio of Pattern Energy Group, or Pattern Development, also includes the operational 115-MW El Arrayan wind farm and a pipeline of other projects.
