November 11 – Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano Giacinto Motta, or Cesi, has been appointed as the lead consultant for the technical integration of rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems across Oman.
The technical consulting and engineering firm will work on the project under the 2016 Work Programme of the Oman Authority for Electricity Regulation, Oman Daily Observer said Wednesday.
Cesi’s aim will be to help develop a framework for the installation of small-scale, grid-connected rooftop solar arrays countrywide. Apart from establishing the technical integration standards for the scheme, it will pave the way towards further energy stability and sustainability in Oman and across the region, CEO Matteo Codazzi was quoted as saying.
The highly-irradiated country is estimated to have a 1.4-GW potential for rooftop solar capacity, the report indicates, citing a study by the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW), German GIZ and the Fraunhofer Institute.
