NV Energy requests expedited review of solar energy deals
December 3 – NV Energy Inc (NYSE:NVE) is hoping for an expedited review of its applications for PUC approval of several renewable energy deals, including 129 MW of solar power purchase agreements (PPAs).
The deals that need approval include PPAs for solar farms of 79 MW and 50 MW to be built in southern Nevada by First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) and SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWR). The company requested that the Nevada Public Utilities Commission (PUC) acts on the applications before March 16, 2016, in light of the expiry of the investment tax credit (ITC) for solar power on December 30, 2016.
NV Energy is also seeking PUC’s nod for agreements to supply renewable power to Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), Switch and the city of Las Vegas. The above-mentioned solar PPAs will help satisfy the needs of the two companies and the city.
