NADB to finance 14-MW PV project in Mexico
August 28 – The North American Development Bank (NADB) has announced a loan agreement for USD 15.5 million (EUR 13.8m) with Buenavista Renewables (BVR) for the construction of a 13.6-MW photovoltaic (PV) park in Ahumada, northern Mexico.
BVR will install over 52,000 polycrystalline modules at its Los Santos Solar I park to supply La Salle educational centres and facilities of German cable company Leoni SA de CV. Thus, La Salle and Leoni will mitigate the volatility of electricity rates in Mexico over the next 20 years, while complying with the clean energy mandate established under the new Power Industry Law, NADB said in the press release on Wednesday. Furthermore, the solar plant is to offset 16,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) and 57 tonnes of nitrogen oxides (NOx) per year.
The Overseas Private Investment Corp (OPIC) is also supporting the project.
