Meyer Burger gets CHF-18m equipment order from Chinese solar co
July 19 – Swiss solar machinery company Meyer Burger Technology AG (SWX:MBTN) has received an order worth some CHF 18 million (USD 18.3m/EUR 16.6m) to supply and install its MAiA 2.1 technology upgrade platform.
The contract was awarded by a Chinese tier one supplier of solar products whose name was not mentioned. That same company last month made an order for diamond wire-based cutting equipment for wafers, Meyer Burger said. Together, the two contracts are valued at close to CHF 40 million.
The new order is for the MAiA 2.1 system platform with the mass production scalable MB PERC technology. Meyer Burger expects to deliver and commission the equipment in the final quarter of the year.
The company said previously that it expects the volume of new orders in the first half of 2016 to exceed CHF 260 million.
