Mexico’s Canatlan may have solar wind parks – report
Jun 30, 2015 18:31 CEST
June 30 – Mexico’s Canatlan municipality has attracted investors interested in installing solar and wind power plants, local daily El Siglo de Durango said on Sunday.
Two companies are working on solar projects, the first involving an initial 30 MW and a total 300 MW, while the other one is still preliminary and its capacity is yet to be determined. Another company from Nuevo Leon has found that the local winds are similar to those in Oaxaca state, a centre of wind energy development in Mexico.
The adjacent Durango municipality already has an operating 16.8-MW photovoltaic park and some 50 MW under construction, both installed by Eosol Energy Mexico.
Other renewable energy projects in the state of Durango are based on biogas and biomass from farming and wood.
