March 11 – Mexico’s Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, or UANL, will purchase solar energy from a 50-MW photovoltaic (PV) plant that will be installed in Marin, Nuevo Leon state, Alex Villarreal from local firm CWG said on Tuesday.
CWG and the university have signed a letter of intent for the plant, which could also produce electricity for companies in the region. The partners have selected a plot and are currently waiting for permits from the federal government.
Two US companies are willing to invest in the project, estimated at USD 100 million (EUR 94.5m), Villarreal said during a forum in Monterrey city.
The plant may be expanded to 100 MW after the initial stage.
