SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), December 4 – Italian company Megacell has signed a contract for the purchase of land in Bosnia’s northern municipality of Dubica where it intends to build in 2016 a plant for the production of silicon, the municipal authorities said.
The first phase of construction is worth 12.5 million euro ($ 13.6 million), while the company’s entire planned investment in Dubica is valued at some 35 million euro, the municipality said in a press release on Thursday.
Megacell plans to begin the production of silicon levers and sheets – input materials for an Italy-based factory – in Dubica in 2017, Franco Traverso, the president of the Mega Group, Megacell’s parent company, said.
Traverso noted that Mega Group’s intent is to keep expanding and build an industrial chain in the Bosnian municipality.
Padova-based Megacell, part of MegaGroup, focuses on bifacial high-efficiency monocrystalline N-type silicon solar cells.
