Kyocera partners complete 14.5 MW PV plant in Hyogo prefecture

November 29 – Japan’s Kyocera Corp (TYO:6971) announced today it has held a ceremony to celebrate the completion of a 14.5-MW solar project in Hyogo prefecture.

Tokyo Century Corp (TYO:8439), Mitsubishi Research Institute Inc (MRI) and Yonden Engineering Company are also partners in the project. All four companies established Takacho Mega Solar LLC to develop the solar park, Kyocera noted.

The photovoltaic (PV) plant has an estimated annual output of approximately 16.66 million kWh. According to the firm’s estimates, this solar park will be able to meet the annual consumption of some 4,930 local homes.

With 56,000 of Kyocera’s solar modules, the PV park started selling its ouput on November 2 to local power utility Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9503).

Tokyo Century was responsible for the project finance while the design and construction were undertaken by Yonden Engineering. Kyocera was the equipment supplier and now will also be in charge of maintenance.
