Kraftwerk selected as owner’s engineer for 50 MW of solar in Egypt
November 25 – Germany-based Kraftwerk Renewable Power Solutions will act as owner’s engineer for a 50-MW solar project in Egypt developed by the Cairo Solar Farm consortium.
Implementation of the project in the Benban region will commence in the second quarter of 2016, the German company said on Monday. It has been selected by the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy as one of the participants in the first regulatory period 2015-2017 of the country’s 2,000 MW feed-in tariff (FiT) programme.
Cairo Solar Farm first selected Kraftwerk to carry out a pre-feasibility study in respect to three regions in Egypt for the solar farm development — Assuan, Asyut, and Sharm El Sheikh. Then it led the application process for the project’s participation in the national FiT scheme.
The German firm has also opened an office in Cairo to have local presence.
