Japan’s Shizen puts online 1.8-MW solar array in Hokkaido
September 14 – Japan’s Shizen Energy Inc announced today it has completed and switched on a 1.8-MW direct current (DC) solar array on Hokkaido island.
Located in Nanao city, the Onuma Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plant covers an area of 36,000 sq m (387,500 sq ft) and is expected to generate about 1.91 million kWh per year, enough to meet the consumption of 600 local homes. This is also the company’s first project on Hokkaido, Shizen said in its press release.
Construction began on September 9, 2015 and was completed on July 29 of this year.
Engineering, procurement and construction was a responsibility of Kita Koudensha Co, while Tokyo-based Juwi Shizen Energy Inc is now taking care of the operation and maintenance.
Another big development for the company was when, back in April, it announced a pact with five other firms to co-promote the development of renewable energy plants on the Philippines.
