December 24 – Green infrastructure company Japan Asia Group Ltd (TYO:3751), or JAG, said on Tuesday it had completed a 1.9-MW solar plant in Kumamoto Prefecture.
Located in the city of Aso, the Aso Namino Solar Energy Farm, as it is named, is expected to annually produce enough electricity to meet the demand of 600 local homes while offsetting about 1,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2).
The photovoltaic (PV) plant was developed by JAG’s energy arm JAG International Energy Co.
Spreading over an area of 37,500 square meters (403,646 sq ft), the system consists of 7,488 solar panels supplied by Canadian Solar Japan KK, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ). Tokyo Energy & Systems Inc was contracted for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services.
At the beginning of last week, JAG also announced the completion of a 1.1-MW solar rooftop array in Shizuoka Prefecture.
