Itochu unveils completion of 34-MW solar park in Japan
June 25 – Japanese trading house Itochu Corp (TYO:8001) said on Thursday that alongside its partners it has completed a 34-MW solar power plant in the island nation’s Ehime prefecture.
The solar park has been constructed on 400,000 sq m (4.3 million sq ft) of land and consists of roughly 134,000 panels supplied by Sharp Corp (TYO:6753). The plant will generate an estimated 37 million kWh of electricity per year and its output will be sold to Shikoku Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9507), according to a press release.
The other participants in the project are Imabari Shipbuilding Co Ltd and Higaki Industry Co Ltd.
In December, Itochu said that, together with Fuyo General Lease Co Ltd (TYO:8424) and Ene One Solar Co, it would build a 37-MW solar farm in Okayama prefecture, Honshu island.
